| / May 18 2010 | ABC Picks Up Three New Comedies, Dramas |
Another 'Friends' alum is headed to ABC.
According to EW.com, ABC has officially picked up the comedy series 'Mr. Sunshine,' starring Matthew Perry as the manager of a local sports stadium who has a midlife crisis on his 40th birthday. Allison Janney co-stars.
The news should come as little surprise, as it was reported last week that the pilot had tested well in screenings.
Perry will join former 'Friends' co-star Courteney Cox ('Cougar Town') on the network, though no word yet on whether 'Mr. Sunshine' will air on ABC's Wednesday-night lineup.
Meanwhile, Jack Bauer may be headed for trouble, but at least '24' alum Elisha Cuthbert will get her happy ending: EW.com also confirmed that the Cuthbert vehicle 'Happy Endings' was given the OK today. Cuthbert plays a bride-to-be who dumps her fiance at the altar, then must readjust to live with her friends.
And finally, it appears as though 'Privileged''s Joanna Garcia may have better luck on ABC, as the the network has just said yes to the comedy series 'Better Together.' Jennifer Finnigan co-stars on the show, about two sisters at different stages in their relationships.
On the drama side, the Live Feed is now reporting that ABC has picked up three for the fall season: Jerry Bruckheimer's legal procedural 'The Whole Truth,' 'My Generation,' about a group of former high school classmates, and 'Detroit 187,' a cop dramedy starring 'Sopranos' alum Michael Imperioli.
Earlier this week, ABC said yes to 'No Ordinary Family,' starring Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz.

TV faves Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, Spin City), Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dollhouse), Eric Balfour (24, The OC), Moon Bloodgood (Journeyman) and Monica Keena (Dawson’s Creek, Undeclared) have joined the cast of the ensemble drama Conception.
The film, starring Gregory Smith, Julie Bowen, Jennifer Finnigan and Jonathan Silverman, is currently lensing in Los Angeles, and tells of nine couples who struggle with romance and pregnancy.
Famed Hollywood screenwriter Josh Stolberg (Piranha, Sorority Row) is directing from his own script.

Josh Cooke has been tapped as the male lead in ABC's untitled Shana Goldberg-Meehan comedy pilot.
Additionally, Skyler Stone has landed a lead in a Fox pilot, the Greg Garcia comedy "Keep Hope Alive," and Michaela McManus has joined the CW's drama pilot "Nomads."
The Shana Goldberg-Meehan comedy revolves around Maddie (Jennifer Finnigan) and Ben (Cooke), a professionally successful and happily unmarried couple for nine years whose status quo is shattered when Maggie's younger sister (Joanna Garcia) gets pregnant and engaged.
